What the Sunset Reminds Me

I am fortunate to live in suburban California where I have good air quality so that means I can see good sunsets on a frequent basis right outside of my bedroom window. Whenever I see the sunset, the sunset is a sad reminder that I am not mindful. Usually, I think it is a waste of time to not do anything but simply view the sunset until the sun goes down, so I go back and look at my computer or do some studying. Life is not going to last forever, so why am I not being present in the moment? The sunset also reminds me of the fact that the day is quite short and time flies. Although there are around 10 hours of daylight (where I live), 10 hours isn't long. For me, the sunset is another way of measuring time as the sunset reminds me that I haven't finished everything I set out to do. Sometimes, the sunset reminds me to stop working and do something else like playing the piano or cooking dinner. Last but not least, the sunset makes me think of how grateful I am.
